Comparison of several species of an ostracod fauna from this Devonian formation with counterparts from the Givetian of Ural Mountains, U.S.S.R., and of Europe suggests that the Slave Point Formation may be latest Givetian in age and that the Frasnian-Givetian boundary occurs at the contact between the Slave Point and overlying Beaverhill Lake Formation. In this paper two new families are proposed; Rozhdestvenskayitidae for compressed aparchitid forms without marginal structures, and Ellesclavidae for genera displaying both cavellinid and kloedenellid-like characteristics. Six new genera have been erected, and fourteen new species are described.
