A.R. "TOONEY" FINK
The CSPG Presidents Award is one of our Societys highest service awards. It is generally given to one or more individuals for the critical role they have played in staging a hallmark event. This years hallmark event, the combined CSPG, CSEG, and CWLS 2008 Annual Convention, was also the first official convention held under the mandate of the Joint Annual Convention Committee (JACC). It was a success by all measures.
Some of the measures of success are reflected in the number of registered delegates and net profit to the CSPG. The strong technical and financial performance reflects excellent management by the convention Co-Chairs.
Other measures include the quality of the technical program. This years technical program offered more than 200 oral papers and 75 posters to the attendees. Sessions on heavy oil and unconventional gas were standing room only, and posters in the Exhibit Hall drew a steady stream of interested delegates.
