The CSPG Presidents Award is the Societys highest service award. It is generally bestowed on one or more individuals for the critical role they have played in staging a hallmark event. During 2007, that hallmark event was the CSPG-CSEG Annual Convention.
Once again, the Annual Convention was a great success, drawing in 4,578 delegates to a four day event that reached out to all geoscientists. Total revenues were $1.79 million while total expenditures were $1.01 million, yielding a gross profit of $0.78 million. Due to increased charge backs on the part of each society and the removal of Continuing Education profit from the Convention portfolio, the final remittance to the CSPG was $380 thousand, which once again broke records and made this the most profitable convention to date.
